The Angrivarii were a Germanic people who lived in what is now northern Germany in the time of the Roman Empire. They lived near the lower Weser river, with the Chauci between them and the North Sea coast, and the Cherusci to their south.

The Angrivarii were a Germanic people who lived in what is now northern Germany in the time of the Roman Empire. They lived near the lower Weser river, with the Chauci between them and the North Sea coast, and the Cherusci to their south. They were part of the Germanic alliance led by Arminius which defeated the Romans at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. The Angrivarii lived in an area which was later called Angria in the Middle Ages, which was a major part of the Carolingian Duchy of Saxony. In Modern German it is still called "Engern". Both names probably derive from geographical terminology.
