Arkan (Ukrainian: Aркан, Aрґан) is a popular circle dance of the Ukrainian Hutsul people (from Hutsulshchyna, southwestern Ukraine). The word literally means lasso, borrowed from the Romanian language, derived from the Turkic word arkan, meaning 'rope', 'lasso'.
