Collesalvetti is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Livorno in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) southwest of Florence, 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Livorno and only 16 kilometres (10 mi) south from Pisa. The toponymy was first recorded in 1272 as Collis Salvecti (“hill of Salvetto”) in a land sale contract drawn up by “notary Salvetto, son of Borgo, in Villa di Colle,” owner of the hill.
