Faishal Ibrahim

Muhammad Faishal bin Ibrahim Khan Surattee (born 16 June 1968) is a Singaporean academic and former politician who served as acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs from 2025 until his resignation in 2026. He previously served as Minister of State for Home Affairs and Minister of State for National Development concurrently between 2020 and 2025 and as Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs from 2025 to 2026. As a member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency (GRC) between 2006 and 2011, for Nee Soon GRC between 2011 and 2025, and for Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC between 2025 and 2026. Before entering politics, Faishal was an associate professor at the Department of Real Estate at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He made his political debut in the 2006 general election as part of a PAP team for Marine Parade GRC which won in a walkover. During the 2011 general election, he was redeployed to Nee Soon GRC, where he won re-election in the 2015 and 2020 general elections. During the 2025 general election, Faishal was redeployed to the PAP team for the five-member Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, which won in a walkover. In 2012, Faishal was appointed Parliamentary Secretary. He was promoted to Minister of State in 2020, and held portfolios in the Home Affairs and National Development Ministries. On 20 July 2026, Faishal resigned from Parliament and the PAP following a "lapse of judgment" that he was said to have committed while interacting with a female member of the public.
