Gloriosa superba is a species of flowering plant in the family Colchicaceae. It is native to and common across most of Africa except North Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and south-central China. It has been introduced to parts of Americas, Australia, and the Pacific Islands. The plant produces several solitary bright red and yellow coloured flowers on long stalks. Though most parts of the plant are highly poisonous, it is used extensively in traditional medicine.
