Guinigi

Machine-translated from the Italian article

The Guinigi were a powerful and influential family attested in the Lucchesia from the thirteenth century onward. Merchants and bankers, thanks to their wealth and their skill in the arts of commerce, they played an important political role in Lucca, particularly during the Signoria period from 1400 to 1430. Already in the thirteenth century, the Guinigi family possessed imposing palaces and towers within the walls of Lucca as well as summer residences in the surrounding countryside.
