From Wikipedia

The name Hippomenes may also refer to the father of Leimone. In Greek mythology, Hippomenes (; Ancient Greek: Ἱππομένης, romanized: Hippoménēs) is a Boeotian prince, the son of Megareus. Hippomenes married Atalanta, the virginal runner, after defeating her in a footrace with the help of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Later the two were transformed into lions when they offended the gods. Although often identified with Melanion, Atalanta's husband in other versions, he is distinct from him.
