Hlukhiv (Ukrainian: Глухів, IPA: [ˈɦluxiu̯] ; Russian: Глухов, romanized: Glukhov) is a small historic city on the Esman River, a tributary of the Seym. It belongs to Shostka Raion of Sumy Oblast of Ukraine. Population: 31,789 (2022 estimate). It is known for having served as the capital of the Cossack Hetmanate after the deposition of Ivan Mazepa in 1708–1764.
