Ischia is a town and one of the six comuni (municipalities) on the island of Ischia in the Tyrrhenian Sea, administratively part of the Metropolitan City of Naples in the region of Campania in southern Italy. With a population of 19,415, it is the largest settlement on the island. It is famed for its thermal baths due to the volcanic nature of the island. The town is formed by two distinct districts, called "Ischia Porto" and "Ischia Ponte". The latter was named after an ancient wooden bridge (in Italian language, ponte) which, until the 18th century, connected it to the Aragonese Castle.
