Jared Moskowitz

Jared Evan Moskowitz ( MOSS-kə-wits; born December 18, 1980) is an American politician and attorney serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 23rd congressional district since 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served on the Broward County Commission from 2022 to 2023 and as Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management from 2019 to 2021. Moskowitz also represented the 97th district in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012 to 2019 and was a city commissioner for Parkland, Florida from 2006 to 2012. Born and raised in Broward County, Moskowitz graduated from George Washington University in 2003 and earned a Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad College of Law in 2007. While attending law school, he was elected to the Parkland City Commission at the age 25 in 2006. Re-elected in 2010, Moskowitz resigned from the city commission to successfully run for the Florida Legislature in 2012. During his final term in the Florida House, Moskowitz was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as the director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management in 2019. Following his resignation in 2021, DeSantis appointed Moskowitz to the Broward County Commission, where he served for ten months before his election to the U.S. Congress in 2022. While serving in Congress, Moskowitz has been described as a centrist and moderate Democrat. In 2026, The New York Times referred to him as "one of the most vocal supporters of Israel in the House."
