It originates at Verinag in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, flows into Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir, and then flows through the Punjab province of Pakistan.

The Jhelum River is a major river in South Asia, flowing through Pakistan and the disputed Kashmir region, and is the westernmost of the five major rivers of the Punjab region. It originates at Verinag in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, flows into Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir, and then flows through the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is a tributary of the Chenab River and has a total length of about 725 kilometres (450 mi).
