June 2024

Machine-translated from the French article

June 2024 is the sixth month of 2024. With an average of +1.64°C above the June average of the pre-industrial reference period 1850–1900, June 2024 is the hottest June ever recorded, and the twelfth consecutive month to exceed +1.5°C relative to that period, even though the formation of a La Niña phenomenon should have made it cooler than June 2023. This streak is due to the unprecedented warming of the oceans, which have absorbed 90% of the heat caused by human activity.
