Kirkcudbright ( kur-KOO-bree; Scottish Gaelic: Cille Chùithbeirt) is a harbour town and former royal burgh at the mouth of the River Dee in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, southwest of Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie. Traditionally the county town of Kirkcudbrightshire, it is 84 miles (135 km) southeast of Edinburgh, 71 miles (114 km) south-southeast of Glasgow, and 8 miles (14 km) northeast of Castle Douglas.
