From Wikipedia

The Lemovices were a Gallic tribe living in the western Massif Central during the Iron Age and the Roman period. They gave their name to the Limousin region and to its principal town, Limoges. Caesar records them among the peoples who raised a force to relieve the Roman siege of Alesia in 52 BC, and their leader Sedullus fell in the fighting there. Under Roman rule they formed a civitas administered from Augustoritum (Limoges), which Augustus attached to the province of Aquitania.
