The town is popularly referred to as Lidzbark Welski (of the Wel), to distinguish it from Lidzbark Warmiński (of Warmia).

The town is popularly referred to as Lidzbark Welski (of the Wel), to distinguish it from Lidzbark Warmiński (of Warmia). Lidzbark is a member of Cittaslow.
