Makati

Makati ( mə-KAH-tee; Tagalog pronunciation: [mɐˈkaː.t̪ɪ]), officially the City of Makati (Filipino: Lungsod ng Makati), is a highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. It is the country's leading center for finance, commerce, business, and diplomacy, and is home to numerous foreign embassies and diplomatic missions. Makati has the largest skyline in the country, with 432 high-rises and skyscrapers, including 138 that exceed 100 m (328 ft) in height. According to the 2024 census, it has a population of 309,770 people. Covering 18.17 square kilometers (7.02 sq mi), Makati is one of the smallest cities in the Philippines by land area. It is bordered by Mandaluyong to the north, Taguig to the east, Pasay to the southwest, and Manila to the northwest. The city's daytime population swells to between 3.2 and 4.2 million due to the concentration of workers in its central business district. As of 2023, Makati had an estimated GDP per capita of ₱1,778,002, the highest among Philippine cities.
