Mesenzana is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Milan and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,318 and an area of 4.9 square kilometres (1.9 mi2). The municipality of Mesenzana contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Malpensata, Molino d'Anna, Pezza, Maro, Cà Bianca nuova, Pianazzo, Piatta, Alpe Cavoglio, Gesiola del monte San Martino, and Le Cascine. Mesenzana borders the following municipalities: Brissago-Valtravaglia, Cassano Valcuvia, Duno, Grantola, Montegrino Valtravaglia.
