National Intelligence Organization

The National Intelligence Organization (Turkish: Millî İstihbarat Teşkilatı), also known by its Turkish initials MİT or colloquially as the Organization (Teşkilat), is a national civilian intelligence and security agency of the Turkish government tasked with advancing national security through collecting and analyzing intelligence from around the world. This is done through conducting analysis development, intelligence gathering, and counterintelligence systems to create national security. MIT is involved in clandestine and covert operations, countering hybrid threats, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, creating a civilian security network intelligence, supporting hybrid warfare operations, and assessing threats to national security. MIT gathers information for the Presidency and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) about current and potential threats from inside and outside against all elements that make up Turkiye’s integrity, constitutional order, existence, independence, security and national power and takes precautions when necessary. MIT is under the provision of the Presidency. It works closely with the Turkish diplomatic missions overseas.
