Pinus halepensis, commonly known as the Aleppo pine, also known as the Jerusalem pine, is a species of conifer in the family Pinaceae, a pine native to the Mediterranean region. It was officially named by the botanist Philip Miller in his 1768 book The Gardener's Dictionary; he probably never went to Aleppo but mentions seeing large specimens at Goodwood in the garden of the Duke of Richmond, which were transplanted (perhaps sent by Alexander Russell from Syria) in 1739.
