The municipality of Santa Sofia is located in the Bidente river valley and is surrounded by the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona, Campigna National Park. Santa Sofia borders the following municipalities: Bagno di Romagna, Civitella di Romagna, Galeata, Pratovecchio, Premilcuore, San Godenzo, Sarsina, Stia.
