Slavonice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈslavoɲɪtsɛ]; German: Zlabings) is a town in Jindřichův Hradec District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,200 inhabitants. The town is located on the stream Slavonický potok, on the border with Austria. Slavonice was founded in the 12th century and reached its greatest prosperity in the 16th century, when the town acquired its Renaissance look. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument reservation.
