Taylor Lorenz (born 1984 or 1985) is an American journalist and technology columnist who covers Internet culture. She has written for The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Daily Beast, Business Insider, and The Daily Mail, and has since left legacy media for independent, alternative media. In 2023, she published a book called Extremely Online: The Untold Story of Fame, Influence, and Power on the Internet. In 2024, Lorenz left The Washington Post after posting an image on Instagram labeling then-U.S. president Joe Biden as a "war criminal", which sparked an internal investigation. She then began a newsletter, User Mag, and a podcast, Power User. Lorenz has been a frequent target of online harassment. In 2025, she garnered criticism after describing the killing of Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione as a moral good.
