Yaoji (Chinese: 瑶姬) is a figure associated with the Wushan goddess tradition in Chinese mythology and literature. Different sources give her different identities and origins. Some traditions describe her as a daughter of the Yan Emperor, while the Daoist Yongcheng Jixianlu identifies Yunhua (云华) as the twenty-third daughter of the Queen Mother of the West and gives her the personal name Yaoji. Wushan traditions also associate Yaoji with Goddess Peak and other sites in the Three Gorges. The Wushan goddess appears in the Gaotang fu (高唐赋) and Shennu fu (神女赋), by the Warring States period poet Song Yu. The Gaotang fu includes the goddess's famous description of herself as morning cloud and evening rain.
