Christopher Pell Liddell (born 24 April 1958) is a New Zealand-American businessperson, author and philanthropist who is currently a director of Anthropic, Commonwealth Fusion Systems and the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy at Oxford University. He has served as chief financial officer of Microsoft, the vice chairman of General Motors, senior vice president and CFO of International Paper and the White House deputy chief of staff in the first Trump administration. Liddell is active in a number of philanthropic projects, mostly in his native New Zealand, where he chairs the country’s largest environmental foundation and in the 2016 New Year Honours, he was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business and philanthropy.
