Japanese dialect of Kansai, Japan

The Kishū dialect (紀州弁, Kishū-ben) is a dialect of Japanese spoken in Wakayama and southern Mie prefectures. It is also called the Wakayama dialect (和歌山弁, Wakayama-ben) in Wakayama. The Kishu dialect is a member of the Kansai dialect group and is spoken in the area corresponding to the former Kii Province.
