Reikai Monogatari (Japanese: 霊界物語; English translation: Tales of the Spirit World or Tales from the Spirit World) is a religious text in the form of a novel, dictated by Onisaburo Deguchi (Japanese: 出口王仁三郎), the co-founder of the Japanese religious organization Oomoto. The work consists of 81 volumes contained in 83 books, the discrepancy being due to Volume 64 being contained in two books, plus the inclusion of a special edition book about Onisaburo Deguchi's expedition to Mongolia. The first 72 volumes were written between 1921 and 1926, and the remaining 9 volumes between 1933 and 1934. Some devout Oomoto followers will read through the entire work, often taking a year to do so. Reading the text out aloud is believed to confer spiritual benefits.
