It was published on 30 August 2012 in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand and on 11 September 2012 in the US and Canada. A Wanted Man won the "Crime Book of the Year" award by the National Book Awards. A Wanted Man returns to the present timeline, continuing where Worth Dying For left off, whereas the preceding novel, The Affair, told an episode of the main character's past. Like a majority of the Jack Reacher novels, it is told from the third-person point of view.
