Mallu Singh (lit. 'Malayali Singh') is a 2012 Indian Malayalam-language action comedy film written by Sethu and directed by Vysakh. The film stars Kunchacko Boban and Unni Mukundan in the lead roles, alongside Biju Menon, Manoj K. Jayan, Samvrutha Sunil, Rupa Manjari and Suraj Venjaramoodu in supporting roles. The film was prominently marketed as Kunchacko Boban's 50th film as a lead actor. Its promotion also used the tagline "Seniors back with a Junior", highlighting the reunion of Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon and Manoj K. Jayan following their successful collaboration in Seniors (2011), while introducing Unni Mukundan as the "Junior". Kunchacko Boban's role combined romance, comedy and dance, with his pairing with Rupa Manjari forming the film's prominent romantic track. Unni Mukundan's action-oriented portrayal of the titular Mallu Singh marked a breakthrough in his career as a lead actor, while Biju Menon, Manoj K. Jayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu contributed prominently to the film's comedy. Released on 4 May 2012, Mallu Singh became a major commercial success, ran for over 100 days in theatres and was among the ten highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year. It was subsequently dubbed into Hindi as Action King Mallu Singh and into Bengali as Fighter Mallu Singh.
