Based in Columbus, Georgia, it provides commercial and retail banking, investment, and mortgage services through 249 branches and 335 ATMs in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. In July 2025, Pinnacle Financial Partners announced its intent to purchase Synovus in an $8.6 billion all-stock deal, thus creating the 28th largest lender in the US, with $116 billion in assets. In January 2026, it was announced that the two institutions had completed the merger of their operations.
