Dewey Beard
Lakota warrior
Dewey Beard (Lakota: Wasú Máza, "Iron Hail"; c. 1858 – November 2, 1955) was a Minneconjou Lakota warrior who fought at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. He later followed Sitting Bull into exile in Canada and returned to South Dakota, where he lived on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation.

Dewey Beard (Lakota: Wasú Máza, "Iron Hail"; c. 1858 – November 2, 1955) was a Minneconjou Lakota warrior who fought at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. He later followed Sitting Bull into exile in Canada and returned to South Dakota, where he lived on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. Beard was a survivor of the Wounded Knee Massacre of December 29, 1890, where his wife Wears Eagle was killed. He later married Alice Lone Bear. In his later life, Beard provided an account of the Wounded Knee Massacre, which was subsequently published as "Wounded Knee: A First Person Account."
